My top tips - local ideas, insider tips, special things to see and do

I find it very difficult to choose a favourite country as any traveller with a sense of curiosity will keep discovering new delights all the time. However, I have always felt that Peru offers a combination of attractions which in my experience, are some of the best in the world. The city of Cuzco with its rich and wonderful collection of Inca and Spanish colonial architecture, the glories of Machu Picchu and the less well known, but fascinating Urubamba river area are just three reasons to keep returning to this incredibly diverse country. And that doesn’t include the richest variety of bird-life on the continent.

Dear Michael,

We travelled to Peru in the Summer, somewhat inspired by a Blue Peter summer holiday many years ago (John Noakes etc) and by your own Full Circle series. We fell in love with the place and want to go back as soon as possible. It's quite reassuring to know that you hold it in such high regard. I've put a few of the photos on this website [web link]
Best wishes and thanks for the inspiration
