I am a travelling gourmet with a love of all things food and wine related. I am happy as larry sitting down to a dish of local grub and trying out new dishes and usually the first words I learn in a foreign language are the names of local specialities and how to ask directions to the nearest good food joint.
I am potty about languages, dialects, regional cultures and traditional festivals and customs and you'll usually find me obsessing about words and accents and bugging people to teach me songs and slang wherever I go.
My fave places visited so far include the Isle of Wight which I've only just discovered, the Costa della Luz in Andalucia, Spain. New York City, Brittany in France, Toronto and Milos in Greece. I am itching to go camping in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, to explore the south of France, Galicia in Spain and West Africa. I have never felt the compulsion to "go to India" to find myself, or backpack through Thailand, and feel like a lot of people miss out on really cool things and lovely experiences just outside their front door in favour of flying half way round the globe to look at gorillas in Borneo or be spiritually cleansed in ashrams. I also have a pretty strong fear of flying, so tend to favour nearby places, although its never stopped me getting on a plane!
Wine is the food of love, travel is for love of food, food is the joy of travel and all travel is wine for the soul. Check out my blog [web link]
