I would never usually dream about going on holiday without my camera, but sometimes while I’m clicking away, it feels like the trip itself has turned into a task of accumulating photographs! I can’t be the only one surely. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I saw a tourist without a camera.

Before the wonders of digital photography I would share my print photographs with maybe just my family and close friends and very rarely throw any away.

Now, they’re posted on social networking sites for all my ‘friends’ to see. Strange huh. It’s not my real holiday though, I’ve already deleted all the bad photos, and some of the not so beautiful shots, this is just the holiday I want them to see, but does this also mean I have edited my memories too?
When I look through past holiday snaps it is sometimes the pictures I remember not the whole holiday :)

Many of my friends actually have the same holiday photographs as me: standing in front of the Eiffel Tower, holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Taking the lid off the Taj Mahal.

Maybe I should leave my camera at home for my next holiday..........Nope I can't do it!

i completely agree with you. i'd love to be able to leave on a trip without my massive camera, but no can do!

sometimes when im away i will go on a day trip or something and force myself not to take it so i can actually enjoy the day without forcing myself to 'capture the moment' and i never miss the fact i didnt take any photos. however, there is no way i'd be able to leave the country without it.

i just uploaded some old photos of when i was in Canada from an old film canon camera.

i totally agree with you. i never take photos anymore. you definietly spend more effort snapping away than enjoying the moment. lets face it noone wants to look at anyone elses holiday photos and how often do you go over old photos that youve taken yourself? so my top tip is leave the camera at home. when you leave the country buy 1 really good poster taken by a professional photographer frame it and put it on your wall. far more relaxing

It's very brave of you not to take a camera with you. I'm like clare, would love to be able to not take it, but always seem to!
Many of the old print photos I have from past holidays have just been kept in the 'truprint' folders and even the digitial ones on facebook are never looked at by me (does make me wonder why on earth I put my holiday photos on there!!). Leaving your camera at home is definately a good idea - once in a while at least!! :)
